Investigation Of Fresh and Hardened Properties of Concrete Using WasteFoundry Sand (WFS) As A Partial Replacement of Fine Aggregate in Concrete

Abstract

Foundry Sand, from metal smelting process, is efficiently used as a replacement for sand in conventional concrete which ishighly efficient in increasing the strength without affecting it’s properties in fresh and hardened state. 1:1.23:2.19mix is adopted forpartial and full replacement of sand with Foundry Sand. Cubes and cylinders are cast and cured to conduct compressive strengthtest and split tensile test on control specimens for 7 days and 28 days test. The remaining replacement mixes will be cast and test infuture. By this the optimum replacement of foundry sand in concrete can be concluded This report also consists of the design ofcolumn, to cast in future. The parameters that can be concluded are – lateral buckling, support stability, crack pattern etc.
