Abstract

Abstract: The landfills in Delhi-NCR regionare not managed efficiently and effectively based on the scientificconsiderations and thus leading to various pollution hazards in air, soil andwater. The villages located around the landfills are adversely affected due tothis environmental degradation. A survey was conducted to assess the extent ofsocial and public health issues, including the quality of the drinking waterand environmental impacts. The study revealed that the social life and thehealth of the villagers living around the landfills have been seriouslyimpacted. The respondents reported that these landfills should bescientifically and technologically managed so that adverse social and health implicationsare minimized. The various studies conducted by different investigators alsosupported the finding of this study.
